ABILENE — Twin sisters Lizzy Dimba and Suzzy Dimba each scored 13 points to lead No. 5 Coronado past Southlake Carroll in the Region I-5A quarterfinals.
Coronado (35-1) erased a 29-26 halftime deficit in the third quarter and then used a 17-7 advantage in the final eight minutes to win comfortably.
Bailey Wipff chipped in 12 points, and Gabby Gonzales added nine on a trio of 3-pointers.
Coronado will play Lewisville Marcus on Friday in Fort Worth.
Kami Mickens scored 18 points to lead the Lady Dragons. Madison Drescher and Kennedy Leonard each added 10 points for Southlake Carroll, which ends the season 23-10.

CANYON — Despite leading by as many as 11 points in the third quarter, Shallowater couldn’t hang on and ended its season with a regional quarterfinal loss to Perryton.
Though the Fillies were outscored in the fourth quarter, 26-12, and unable to come back in the final minutes, coach Chuck Darden said he is proud of what his team accomplished this season,
“Our kids played their guts out, and I’m so proud of them,” Darden said.
Kelsee Smith led the Fillies with 17 points. Smith, a sophomore, will return next season.
“We’re going to have nine players back,” Darden said, “We lose five great seniors, but we have a great coming back.”

Playing in front of their home crowd, the Lady Trojans broke open a game that was 21-11 at halftime.
Micaela Martinez grabbed 12 rebounds for Christ The King (14-10), and Gonzales was credited with seven assists.

CANYON — Freshman guard Courtney Hurst hit a corner jump shot with 10 seconds left, lifting Idalou to a dramatic victory against Canadian in a Class 2A area-round playoff game.
Coming out of a timeout, Idalou planned to go to Mackenzie Gregory, who led all scorers with 15 points. But the defense helped on Gregory in the post, and Bailey Thiel passed to Hurst in the left corner. She was standing on the 3-point line as she turned loose the shot.
It capped a comeback from five points down in the fourth quarter.
“I was really proud of the kids’ effort to hang in there and come back,” Lady Cats coach Wayne Johnson said, “and then to show great composure down the stretch.”
Idalou led 23-14 at halftime before running into a drought until late in the third quarter and losing the lead.
Thiel and Rachel Zahn finished with nine points apiece for Idalou (27-8).
The Lady Cats earned a shot at No. 2 Merkel in the Region I-2A tournament at Midland College. They’ll tip off at 7:30 p.m. Friday, the late game of the two regional semifinals.
