ABILENE - C.J. Hantz rushed for 108 yards and passed for 69 more and two touchdowns as Throckmorton beat Borden County 48-36 to win the six-man Division I championship on Saturday. Throckmorton led 40-16 before Borden County rallied to within four.
WOODROW - Lauren Heinrich tossed a no-hitter to pace Cooper past Tascosa, 12-0, in the opener of the 2012 Caprock softball tournament on Friday. Heinrich pitched five innings, struck out 11 batters and had no walks.
The Monterey boys soccer team defeated Tascosa 3-2 on Tuesday night. Jaron Griffith, Davis Williamson and Eduardo Rossatto notched goals for the Plainsmen. Marc Casares recorded an assist for Monterey, which 7-7-1 and 2-1-0 in District 2-5A action.
Coronado senior swimmer Jason Hallier has medaled in every event he's ever raced at the Region I-5A swimming meet including his first-time 100 backstroke, in which he earned his first win.
