WEATHERFORD — Brennon Smith scored 13 points and Coronado rode a strong offensive start to a 54-37 victory against Midlothian in the consolation championship of the Weatherford Tournament.
Christian O’Neal and Devon Phillips each scored 11 for the Mustangs (11-2), which rebounded the ball well and allowed only 12 second-half points.
Midlothian (9-4) was led by Jamal Rapp’s 13 points, with Trey Chapman chipping in 11.
The Mustangs (11-2, 1-0 in District 2-5A) return to district play at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday against Abilene Cooper in Abilene.
