Mustangs fall to Panthers in OT for first district loss

AMARILLO — Lucas and Marcos Schuster combined for 34 points, and 24th-ranked Frenship held off a 3-point barrage by Randall for a 72-62 win over the Raiders on Monday.

Lucas Schuster led the Tigers (12-4) with 19 points and Marcos Schuster chipped in 15. Bradley Mitchell added 14 points as Frenship drained 10 3-pointers.

But Randall drilled 13 from beyond the arc, led by seven from Bo Dunavin, who had a game-high 22 points. Logan Brittain added 19 points (four 3-pointers) and Collin Bowen added 10 for the Raiders (7-7).

ODESSA — Keouvion McCalop scored a game-high 23 points, and Odessa Permian outscored Coronado 15-4 in overtime to outlast the Mustangs, 78-67, in a District 2-5A contest on Monday.

Christian O’Neal led the Mustangs (13-3, 3-1 in 2-5A) with 16 points. Devondric Meadows added 13 points, Trey Culver 11 and Devon Phillips 10 in the loss.

Robert Thomas added 22 points for the Panthers (10-4, 2-1). Juwan McGee added 12 points.

Ben Wheeler added 13 points, while Ben Sheets and Tucker Wentz chipped in 10 each for the Lions, who improve to 10-7 on the season.

Jayton Ellis led all scorers with 22 points for the Bulldogs (8-7). Daniel Miller chipped in 15 and Desmond Vera 10 in the loss.

John Hood led four Sandies (5-9) in double figures with 13 points. Michael Dawn added 12, Josh Norris 11 and Evan Wieck 10 in the win.
