Shallowater Independent School District lost its appeal to the University Interscholastic League on Monday to move from Class 3A to Class 2A for extracurricular competition purposes. Athletic director Kyle Maxfield said Monday the school had appealed its alignment to the UIL District Alignment Appeals Committee in Austin based on two students at the school district's Woodward Academy, an alternative campus that allows students to learn at a different pace than others if needed.

Early on in the recruiting process, it looked like Chad Quisenberry was headed to a Division I school. Frenship’s senior defensive end had full-ride offers from both New Mexico and Colorado State. But along the way, both schools changed coaches after the season, and his offers at both schools were pulled. So the process started over for him, and in a way, turned out to be better the second time around. That’s because it landed Quisenberry at Abilene Christian University, right across the street from his older brother, Chaz, who is at Hardin-Simmons.
