City girls high school basketball roundup: Shallowater tops Roosevelt

SHALLOWATER — Rebekah Jones scored 19 points and Shallowater, ranked No. 17 in Class 3A, opened the season by beating Roosevelt, which is ranked No. 15 in Class 2A.

Sharon Harkey and Kelsee Smith added nine points apiece for Shallowater.

Roosevelt got 15 points from Mikayla Welch and 11 from Kaci Whitley.

Krystal Applegate added 10 points for the Lady Westerners (1-0), who took control with a 17-7 second quarter.

McKenzie Loftis led Borger (0-1) with 14 points.
