WOODROW — Katy Boren poured in 19 points and Cooper tripped Smyer 55-43 Saturday as the 10th-team in Class 3A prevailed over the 10th-ranked team in Class 1A Division I.

Cooper jumped to a 20-4 lead after one quarter behind nine points from Boren and six from Taylor Parr.

Kennedy Farr led Smyer (1-1) with 18 points, followed by Jordan Locke with nine.

Jordan Hise scored seven for Cooper.

Ashlee De La Cruz scored 19 points and Lubbock Christian High won its season opener, a game in which there were 60 fouls called and Dimmitt finished with two players on the court.

Dimmitt (1-1) had an eight-point lead with six minutes left, but then was decimated by 34 fouls. Six Bobbies fouled out as the lead dwindled.

Brooke Robertson scored 11 points for LCHS, and Kassidy Cunningham was next with 10.

SLATON — Aurora Luera hit a short inside bank shot as time expired, lifting to a dramatic over victory against Greenwood.

Alexia Talley and Kelli Pate scored 16 points apiece for Slaton (1-1), which rallied from a 10-point halftime deficit. Karli McCord also played a key role down the stretch, making five of six free throws in the fourth quarter and overtime.

Ashley Hastings added 10 points for the Tigerettes.

Greenwood (2-1) got 19 points from Amanda Bell and 12 apiece from Morgan McKee and Cassie Kraft.
