Third-ranked Lady Pirates take down Abilene Wylie

ABILENE — Haley Bruedigam scored 18 points and No. 3 Cooper started a challenging week by beating No. 19 Abilene Wylie 55-53 Tuesday night.

Katy Boren scored 16 points for the Lady Pirates (14-0), who put their unbeaten record on the line at home Friday against Canyon, the top-ranked team in Class 4A.

Taylor Parr added 11 points for Cooper, which built a 46-34 lead after three quarters and held on from there.

Wylie (8-6) got 17 points from Brittany Brewer and 14 from Punkin Mack.

The Loboettes (11-3) used 16-for-20 free-throw shooting to overcome making only nine field goals.

Kacie Whitley led Roosevelt (6-9) with 10 points, followed by Kelea Pool with nine.

The Tigers (8-7) jumped out to a 31-15 lead at halftime, then completely shut the door with a 18-3 run in the third quarter.

Baley Pollard added 10 points for Frenship, which hits the road for a 6 p.m. game Friday at Palo Duro.

No Big Spring player scored in double digits.

ABILENE — Lizzy Dimba scored 17 points and Bailey Wipff added 13 to lead Coronado to a dominant 70-10 victory against an overmatched Abilene Cooper squad on Tuesday night in District 2-5A play.

The Lady Mustangs (16-1, 4-0 in 2-5A) led 22-0 after the first and 43-1 at intermission.

Brittany Thompson added 11 points for Coronado, which limited Cooper to only three field goals.
