Coronado dominated the 2012 all-District 2-5A team and claimed four of the six superlatives.
Senior shortstop Katlin Reed was named the player of the year after hitting .644 in district play with 31 runs and 27 RBIs.
Senior catcher Tori Ruiz was named the defensive player of the year, and senior second baseman Ciarra Galindo was the offensive player of the year.
Freshman Taegan Kirk, who played third base and catcher, was the newcomer of the year.
Coronado pitcher Kristin Tijerina, first baseman Amanda Oatis and center fielder Lani Munoz were all named to the first team.
Lubbock High’s Elesia Pelletier was named the utility player of the year, and teammate Marcie Kissko was a first-team selection in the infield.
Monterey had five first-team honorees, including Mallory Villegas, Claudia Hernandez, Kim Guesnier, Alexx Lance and Brittany Martinez.

Frenship junior Megan Fischer was named the District 3-4A player of the year after helping lead the Tigers to the Region I-4A semifinals.
Teammate Tori Salley was named newcomer of the year, and four more Frenship players earned first-team honors.
Starting pitchers Ashton Bell and Rubi Moreno were both first-team selections, as were junior infielder Presley James and senior outfielder Ally Pouria.
Plainview catcher Aubrey Enriquez was named the first-team utility player, and teammates Chyane Hernandez and Bethany Chavez were also first-team selections.

Lauren Heinrich concluded her Cooper career with back-to-back trips to the Region I-3A semifinals and was named the District 2-3A player of the year.
Heinrich went 21-5 with a 1.85 ERA and 204 strikeouts.
She was joined on the first team by most of Cooper’s lineup. Hannah Limmer, Abbi White, Alyssa Hughes, Bree Coons, Kalyn Bednarz, Pam Pence and Bayli Goolsby all earned first-team honors.
Estacado’s Gabby Gloria was named the offensive player of the year, and Lamesa’s Darrian Doederlein was the defensive player of the year.
Bayli Johnson, a sophomore from Shallowater, was named the newcomer of the year.
