Coronado tennis takes critical match from LHS
The Coronado tennis team remained unbeaten in District 2-5A, fending off Lubbock High 10-9 on Tuesday night.
Seven of the 19 matches went three sets and the two teams split the 12 singles matches.
Coronado picked up wins at Nos. 2 and 3 boys doubles and Nos. 1 and 2 girls doubles to represent the difference in the match.
Karly Garland, at No. 1 girls singles, lost the first set 6-0 to Kristen James but rallied for a 0-6, 6-3, 6-0 victory. Matt Henderson also rallied from a first-set loss to claim a victory for the Mustangs at No. 4 boys singles.
Lubbock High will look to get back on track against Monterey on Tuesday, and Coronado will host Tascosa and Amarillo beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday.
