AMARILLO — Andrew Coffey and Aaron Vallance combined for 11 3-pointers, allowing Amarillo San Jacinto to outlast Lubbock Christian 69-66 in a TAPPS District 1-3A contest Thursday night.

Manny Ryan led the Eagles (19-8, 1-1)with 22 points, including six 3-pointers. Connor Bryant added 16 points and Tanner Pylant chipped in 15 for the Eagles.

Coffey led all scorers with 23 points and Vallance finished with 20. J.B. Gill chipped in 13 in the win for San Jacinto (3-0).

AMARILLO — Ashlee De La Cruz scored a team-high 19 points, but the Lubbock Christian girls basketball team could not overcome a horrendous start in a 67-43 loss to Amarillo San Jacinto in a TAPPS District 1-3A game Thursday night.

Crystal Ryan added 17 points for the Lady Eagles, who were behind 18-1 at the end of the first quarter and could never catch up.

Madison Hinnett led scorers with 25 points for San Jacinto. Paige Hawkins added 16 and Callan Young 13.

Monterey girls

BRYAN — The Monterey girls soccer team got goals from Courtney Pitman and Claudia Sanchez to down Nikki Roe out of McAllen in the first round of the Brazos Valley Cup.

Sarah Sanchez had an assist, and Franchesca Lozoya made eight saves to pick up the win in goal for the Lady Plainsmen (7-3).

Monterey will be back in action in the tournament today at 3 p.m. against Humble Kingwood.

WICHITA FALLS — Marc Casares and Nando Hernandez each scored goals to lead Monterey to a 2-1 win over Duncanville in the first round of the Wichita Falls Tournament.

Dustin Wells had an assist for the Plainsmen (4-5).

Monterey will be back in action at the tournament on Friday with two games, taking on Randall at noon and Wichita Falls at 5 p.m.
